In past episodes of Ignition, the focus has mainly been on test-track numbers and other hard, objective performance data. But in this episode, Associate Road Test Editor Carlos Lago takes a detour off the beaten track to have some fun with the Raptor in its native habitat, off-road.
Even though its on-track performance of 0-60 mph in less than seven seconds is nothing to be ashamed of, the truck's true capabilities are shown when sliding around in the sand, and negotiating trails.
But the Raptor is far from a one-trick pony. Despite its superb off-road performance, Lago says the truck is surprisingly civilized on road, with a compliant, comfortable ride on-pavement, thanks to the Fox Racing Shox and specially-tuned suspension.
Watch as Lago indulges some of his childhood fantasies playing with the Raptor in the sand washes and trails around Hungry Valley.
