Dear Truck Trend,
In the "Ram Jam" (May/June 2012) letter sent to you by David Bradford, from Estill, South Carolina, he refers to the 2012 Ram HD 4500/5500 as having a GVWR of 22,300 pounds and a GCWR of 30,000 pounds. Are those ratings correct? My Dodge dealer questions these numbers. Would you please check on their accuracy?

Dear Reader,
While it depends on transmission and layout (they're all powered by the 6.7-liter Cummins), the maximum GCWR for the 4500 Chassis Cab is 30,000 pounds, and max GVWR is 16,500 pounds. For the 5500, maximum GCW is the same as with the 4500, but the GVW goes up to 19,500 pounds. These numbers are according to Ram Truck. Thank you for catching the GVWR error!
