Specialty law enforcement and defense apparel maker 5.11 Tactical teamed up with Galpin Auto Sport to build the B.E.A.S.T., a custom 2012 Ford F-450 Super Duty designed as a showcase and mobile training station for the company's new line of heavy-duty door breaching tools.
Because of the specialized nature of the tools the company is trying to showcase, it had to create an effective way of showcasing them in the field, which necessitated bringing a 2000-pound steel door along with them to demonstrate the tools. To embody the heavy-duty nature of the tools, the company chose the F-450 Super Duty.
With a payload rating of more than 5000 pounds, the truck is easily capable of transporting the demonstration door, which itself showcases some ingenious engineering. Thanks to dual gas strut assists, the door can be lifted and slid into the truck bed by one man, and the hinge mechanism and bumper hitch mount can be stowed in the bed.
The 5.11 Tactical logo is displayed all around the truck, from interior embroidery to the illuminated step bars. The interior is subtly updated with material from 5.11's apparel utilized in the seat material, door panel inserts and headliner.
The truck will be traveling the country demonstrating the tactical door breaching tools to law enforcement and firefighting departments nationwide.
