Last week during a visit to England we spotted a curious pair of custom camera vehicles that included a Toureg V-10 and Nissan GT-R.
The Touareg V-10 is a certifiable beast with 400 horses channeled to all four wheels. It sports a Pursuit Arm with Post and Beam mounts, multiple monitors, and intercoms. The custom V-Dub by Pursuit Europe can film at speeds up to 100 mph, not to mention over a variety of terrain.
Then there's Godzilla. According to a crew member, converting the GT-R into a monster filming machine took around $40,000 and a few days of custom fabrication.
Once the front bumper and rear diffuser were removed, builders attached a lattice of piping meant to hold steady the expensive Canon 5D Mark II cameras. They then integrated robotic stabilizers to control the rig via a full array of computers occupying the passenger seat. High speed pursuit is this car's forte.
And what of those trendy matte black finishes? Rather than being just a stylish cue, the expensive paintjobs reduce any glare and visual interferences the vehicle may reflect while shooting. They also look sinister, too.
These have to be some of the coolest film rigs we've ever laid eyes on, and let's not forget the matte black Segway, either.
What would be your ultimate chase camera car?
