Why is this rear view mirror so thick? Its primary purpose is to automatically dim the lights behind you. Combine that with the sensor at the top of the windshield that's used by the adaptive cruise control or the blind spot monitoring system, and it's easy to see why our parking permit's hook has nearly torn off. Even when you manage to get it up there, the permit is almost completely covered by the sensor.
A few weeks back, I was traveling with my parents and had difficulty putting a handicapped parking placard behind the rear view mirror. Instead I placed it on the center of the dash, which still got us a parking ticket. I'm not saying the Jeep is responsible for the ticket (I am), but I never thought something as simple as attaching a permit could be so difficult. For me, it's just another reason why I'd skip the $1000+ technology package that includes the blind spot warning and adaptive cruise control.
