In an October letter, Global Vehicles CEO John Perez assures the dealers signed up that they each have a valid and enforceable contract to sell Mahindra’s pickups under applicable U.S. laws, essentially a counterclaim to Mahindra’s statement the “current dealers’ contract is with [Global Vehicles], hence they do not automatically become Mahindra dealers.” Global placed a $35-million truck order at the end of September on behalf of Southeastern U.S. Mahindra dealers, but Mahindra essentially disregarded that order and said the contract with GV has expired. The truck, which carries more than most half-tons, got its EPA certification in August, but with all the name-calling this spat will end up in court before a truck hits a showroom.
