A 1988 Ford Ranger Saleen Sportruck is on sale at eBay right now. A Saleen-ified Ranger truck from 1988? Yes, you read that right.
If you believe the seller's claim that only 27 of these unique trucks were ever made, that makes the 1988 Saleen Sportruck rarer than a Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport.
While the eye-popping visual upgrades are obvious, this 32,000-mile truck is more than just a bold body kit and 15-inch Saleen wheels. A retuned Saleen suspension should make driving more fun as you pilot this '88 Sportruck sitting on thickly bolstered, reupholstered seats.
The seller has helpfully posted what appears to be a multi-page advertisement about the truck.
"In its initial outings in 1987," the ad copy says, "Saleen Sportruck has garnered a pair of pole positions and earned two victories in SCCA Racetruck Challenge Series for mini-pickups."
We're not sure about what powertrain those racetrucks used, but the 24 stock Sportrucks employ the Ford Ranger's 140-horsepower 2.9-liter V-6 with a five-speed manual transmission. This particular example, in Colonial White, appears to be in immaculate condition.
"Do not miss out on this truck," the seller says, "as you may never find another one for sale ever!"
We would agree, yet we're curious what you think: does the $10,995 Buy It Now price make this Saleen Sportruck a good deal or is it overpriced?
