Three heavily modified modern retromobiles have made their way to eBay: one Chevrolet HHR and two Chrysler PT Cruisers.
The 2007 Chevy HHR will never be mistaken for another vehicle in the supermarket parking lot largely because of the bright green paint the seller says "you must see to appreciate." The interior has matching trim pieces, not to mention a 16-inch TV. Behind the back seat two 12-inch speakers are mounted, assuring you'll hear whatever is playing on DVD just fine. The leather interior is custom as well, and in case you hadn't noticed, those 20-inch wheels are spinners. Just a few hours left in this auction: after 31 bids, the price is at $8100 but the reserve has not been met.

Less showy but still a little green is this 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser finished in teal. It's got leather, a navigation system, a moonroof, and a manual transmission. We like the custom grille, the headlight covers are OK, but we're just not sold on the awkward rear windshield cover that restricts visibility and doesn't really provide a big aesthetic payoff. Even still, the wheels are attractive and with one bid the auction is set at $4000. The seller wants $5499 for the Buy It Now option.

Arguably slicker is this 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser. Blacked-out windows are a nice touch but we're not sold on the headlight lens covers. Far too much has been put into this supercharged manual transmission car, but we'll share a few custom touches: new hood, 18-inch wheels, side door handles removed, blue LED underbody lighting, dual exhaust, and "black and blue burl" paint. Bidding is currently at $5100 for this no-reserve auction, and it looks like the seller may have once offered it for $6495.
We've got some intriguing compact retro choices this week. What'll it be for you?
