The question facing Refreshing/Revolting commenters this week is simple: does the fierce look of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution transfer cleanly onto the hood of the midsize Outlander SUV?
For 2010, the Outlander's pleasant but mainstream front styling is replaced by the glare of the Lancer's headlights and the boldness of a much larger grille.
The change makes the 2010 Outlander incredibly easy to distinguish from previous model year Outlanders -- something we can't say for many refreshed SUVs. So it's different. Is it better?
We would say, unequivocally, yes. The Mitsubishi Outlander can be equipped with a third row and competes in the $20,000-30,000 SUV category. In that price range, there are a seemingly innumerable selection of SUVs and crossovers. The new schnoz gives the Outlander a more aggressive and attractive presence.
In the back, as far as we can tell, the only change is the addition of a chrome bar above the license plate area. Yay!
Taking a look inside, it becomes clear where Mitsubishi spent most of its time with this redesign -- the front section of the exterior. We can't discern a single significant change in the Outlander's interior, which can be optioned with a navigation system that isn't particularly well-integrated into the center console.
