In a recent list from Kelley Blue Book, the 2009 Ford F-150, Honda Element, and Lexus LX 570 took top honors as KBB's 2009 Top 10 Road Trip Cars. "With hundreds of thousands of miles under our collective tires, we at Kelley Blue Book have taken more than our share of road trips, and we can attest that not all are created equal. Some involve the transport of numerous people and literally tons of stuff; others involve nothing but the oneness of car and driver. In an effort to reveal the best vehicle for each journey you might take, we have combined our collective wisdom to deliver to you this list of the Top 10 Road Trip Cars of 2009. Travel safely, our friends."--KBB

Towing Trip: Ford F-150 SuperCrew
This one was no surprise. We recently took our long-term F-150 on a 700-mile road trip to pick up a broken-down 1989 Daihatsu up in northern California. Why? Because MT staff member Kirill Ougarov "had absolutely nothing better to do on a Saturday." Click here to read more!

Camping Trip: Honda Element
It's been five years since we last tested a Honda Element, and our opinion of the Honda CR-V-based sport/utility has been one of consistent appreciation for the Element's relatively sporty driving demeanor and versatility, but with some reservations about its quirky styling. "The Element is still as quirky as ever, but for 2009, it's even more functional -- and that's never a bad thing." Scott Evans states in the First Look article. The Honda Element is a perfect choice to take on the family camping trip. In fact, there is a whole Web site and community of Element owners commented to using their vehicles to the fullest. Ski Trip: Lexus LX 570
This Lexus is an amazing luxury/utility vehicle, capable of a dash to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds, while the quarter mile disappears in under 15 seconds at over 90 mph, and all this by a behemoth that weighs over 6000 pounds. Oh, did we mention the Lexus can also off-road with the best of them? Hill climbs, rock crawling, sand washes--nothing slows this machine down. Senior editor Ron Kiino says, "The Lexus LX 570 has an ultra-luxurious interior: The wood, leather, and plastics are all elegant and first rate; the fit and finish is impeccable." Family Outing: Honda Odyssey
A significant refresh for the 2008 model year has kept the Odyssey up to date for 2009. Honda gave the minivan’s EX-L trim level a power tailgate and added Bluetooth HandsFreeLink to the Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System. Both features were previously exclusive to the Odyssey Touring. Click here for our 2009 photo gallery!
