I hate it when there's never a camera around when I spot something interesting on the roads I travel. I know the photo above isn't the best looking nor is it award winning, but all I had was the tiny camera on my phone to take this quick shot of the a 2008 Chip Foose edition Ford F-150.
The Chip Foose F-150 made its debut early 2007 at the New York auto show priced in the neighborhood of $55K. The last time I saw this souped up truck was when we had one in for testing right after its debut. That's why I got all frustrated when I couldn't get a decent photo of this rare automotive pop-culture tuned truck as the female owner flew past me on the freeway.
"The Roush-supercharged 5.4L Triton V-8 boasts 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque that winds its way through the standard 4-speed O/D auto trans to the 3.73 limited-slip rear axle. On an extended weekend blast up and down the nearly deserted freeways of Southern California, the Foose was impressive." - Thomas Voehringer
"What made the concept truck so dramatic (and cool) was the lowered, flat look". – Mark Williams
The Foose F-150 came out only months before the launch on the totally redesigned '09 F-150. Some say Ford was trying to squeeze as many sales as it could before the new f-150 hit the market. Ford's biggest and most anticipated performance truck, the SVT Raptor is now hitting the showrooms.
Do you think Ford should invest in special-edition side projects like the previous-generation Foose F-150? If they do, why wait until the last year? If you like having limited-edition special vehicles available, who would you like to see design this gen's performance trucks?
