Lincoln's pickup truck fail rate in the U.S. started with the Lincoln Blackwood that was dropped in 2002 and then the first-generation Mark LT ending in 2008 lasting only two years on the U.S. market. Both luxury trucks never really caught on in with U.S. buyers, but the Mark LT continued to be sold south in Mexico where “buyers are prepared to pay more for a Lincoln-branded vehicle, " according to reports at Pickuptrucks.com. The 2008 Mark LT was priced at $42,000- $46,000 compared with the 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum SuperCrew, which starts around $40,910. No word yet on what the Second-Gen Lincoln Mark LT will run.
The new Mark LT will be based of the 2009 Ford F-150 Platinum edition. Besides its obviously different and (::cough:: ugly :: cough::) somewhat odd-looking front grille, the rocker panels and tailgate will receive LT lettering. Most of the truck looks to retain most of the F-150's exterior features.
There's no set plans to sale the overpriced-rebadge-defaced pickup in the U.S. especially with the slumping truck sales we're dealing with at the moment. This also begs the question on how well Lincoln sees the future forecast of sales for buyers south of the border.
