Has Christmas come early for those who want to see the General survive to sell vehicles for another year? Check out this video to see driving views, interiors, beauty shots, and sound bites of the redesigned 2010 Chevy Equinox crossover SUV. The Equinox will make its world debut at the North American Auto Show in Detroit next month.
The Equinox will be one of the first of new GM vehicles to use direct-injection technology as part of GM's plan of switching over to DI. DI will help reduce cold-start emissions and save fuel. Both an I-4 and a V-6 will be available, with the inline engine capable of getting an estimated 30 mpg on the highway with FWD. Not too shabby for a vehicle with a curb weight of near 4000 lb.
Personally, I think the front end looks a little funky, but aside from that this Chevy looks like it has great potential. The Equinox will be on sale starting in mid-2009. Be sure to check back next month for our live coverage from the 2009 North American Auto Show in Detroit.
The utility of a crossover with the economy of a sedan! That's the boast being made by Chevy's second-generation 2010 Chevrolet Equinox, and the claim does not come attached to any expensive hybrid or diesel technology.
