1. I think many auto enthusiasts have been baffled for a long time as to how exactly Ford and GM can offer such better vehicles in the rest of the world, especially in Europe and Australia, than in their home country. I believe they'll survive, just at a great cost to everyone: taxpayers, unions, execs, etc.

2. unions are to expensive to domestic auto makers, and the plants from japonese automakers dont have the cost from those unions i think. thats a huge $ difference
