A long-standing stereotype in the male-oriented auto enthusiast world about (most) female drivers in trucks and SUVs is that we should try and avoid them if we see them on the road. Especially drivers in the really, really big ones. All kidding aside, women are the target audience for the latest generation of crossover SUVs, which is why GM brought in its female engineers and designers to ensure the Chevy Traverse is an appropriate vehicle for female drivers. Female feedback on the crossover was also crucial during the Traverse’s development.
The “soccer mom” stereotype of a woman barreling down the road in a big, bulky SUV with little regard for human life will be challenged by the new generation of women driving crossovers. With nimbler handling and smaller dimensions, crossovers will give female drivers a better command of the road, while providing all the amenities and features they’d want out of their vehicles. Check out a Traverse and let us know how it feels.
