There isn't any thing good on TV in the middle of the day. I found this out recently when I ended up getting sick and decided to stay home to get some rest. That's when I found the Project Runway Season 5 marathon.
You might be thinking what does this have to do with trucks? It wasn't until Episode 7: "Fashion That Drives You" started to play. The remaining designers were sent to a parking structure where they met with Tim (the host) and Chris Web, lead color designer for Saturn, where they were presented with the next challenge. Web explained to the designers that 85% of the Vue hybrid is made of materials that can be recycled. They had to design their next outfit from materials found within the five Vues in front of them.
The Designers didn't have to tear up the vehicles to get what they needed. The Saturn team filled the vehicles with raw materials such as seatbelts, carburetors, headlights, seats, dash trim, and just about any thing that came off the vehicles. And I was amazed at the products the designers created.
It just baffles me that this is called fashion. I think it's remarkable the designers pulled off some great-looking outfits from nothing more than a vehicle parts. But who would wear a dress made out of seatbelt straps and broken glass? This was fun to watch but who would wear that?
