If you want to conquer the Rubicon Trail, you’re going to need a hard-core vehicle. Look no further than a $110,000 EarthRoamer XV-JP, built on the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4WD Unlimited platform. There’s only room for two in the vehicle, but the EarthRoamer comes fully equipped for an off-road romp, with electric front and rear locking Dana 44 differentials, electric sway-bar disconnect, a refrigerator, a queen-sized bed, hot showers, and a toilet.
More features round out the EarthRoamer, including an electric “Loftop” roof that rises to give around nine feet of headroom inside. Power is of no concern with a rooftop 80-watt solar panel and a 160-amp engine alternator providing the juice. Heating the EarthRoamer is a 6100btu “ultra-efficient forced-air furnace” that pulls fuel from the main fuel tank. Fresh water is housed in an on-board 25-gal tank. A Warn 9000 heavy-duty winch ensures there’s no shortage of pulling power. All in, sounds like the perfect vehicle. Not to mention it’s the only camper that has finished the entire Rubicon Trail.
