Toyota is rumored to be working on a 7.0-liter V-8 diesel for a heavy-duty pickup-truck application--an HD Tundra.
Toyota already has the 1VD-FTV DOHC 32-valve, 280-horsepower, 480-pound-foot 4.5-liter V-8 diesel in some foreign-market Land Cruisers that could show up in 2010 Tundras and Sequoias. They also own a percentage of Isuzu, but in the U.S. market the only Isuzu V-8 diesel is the 6.6-liter Duramax used in GM pickups, and Toyota's Hino partnership has only big inline engines.
