1. If Mahindra can make the truck reach the magic 30 mpg highway figure (and with its talk of diesel-hybrids, it's entirely possible) and offer competitive towing and hauling capacity, I predict they're going to cash in big-time.

2. I've been waiting for years to see if Toyota brought the Hilux Diesel over in our US Tacomas. Heck, I was even curious to see if it would happen with a hybrid after the Toyota Pickup Concept...

I currently drive an 02 Dakota Quad Cab 5.9 4x4... It is the only Compact Truck that delivers a decent payload, decent tow ratings, and has a sturdy frame that I can plow with. I don't need an F150, Ram, or Silverado because I beleive the compact trucks can achieve the same things in their size.

If it takes Mahindra to be the first one to get a diesel hybrid over here so that the others build one, than great for them. The Ranger hasn't been reinvted in 20 years, The Dakota with 300hp isn't bad, but I've been waiting to see if they take the Mercedes Diesel thats in the Jeep CRD and install it in the Dakota which they haven't. Now with the Crysler-MB split, I don't see it happening. And GM is still waiting to get the Cadillac Diesel for the european market made before it goes into something like the Hummer H3t. Toyota still haven't brought over the Hilux Motor.

Now Mahindra goes in it with a straight Diesel Hybrid! If someone could get me 30+ MPG like my sprinter van, tow 7700#, Payload of over 1Ton, and fit a sheet of drywall between the wheel arches in the bed, they got themselves a truck that no one can beat!
