Every time I see a commercial for the upcoming "Sex and the City" movie, I cringe with total dismay. I must not be your average girl because I can't relate to anything these so-called average women do on the popular television series. Frankly, I think they live in a fantasy world. And now, Mercedes is getting in on the action.
Drones of women (and men) are expected to flock to the theaters Friday, May 30th, for the release of the Sara Jessica Parker flick that represents the icing on the cake for its legions of fans. I've seen a few of the television episodes and have been to a couple of viewing parties, but I just can't get into the show. At the end of most episodes, I just wanted to "kick a puppy" (so to speak). It made me mad at how unbelievable these characters were. Yes, I know it's just entertainment, but so many people I know say they can relate to the characters -- and I'm just dumbfounded by this. Like I said, I must not be your average girl.
The movie follows up with the four city girls where the television series ended a couple of years ago. One character is getting married, one is having a baby, and the others… well I don't care. But you get the gist of it.
Mercedes-Benz is even sneaking their sexy new GLK crossover SUV in to the film -- a genius marketing plan to infuse the little luxury crossover ’ute in a movie where lots of like-minded women will be watching. In fact, the only thing that makes any sense in the movie is the GLX, fresh off its debut at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show. The movie should be called "Mercedes-Benz GLK and the City," focusing on the trials and tribulations of real city commuting.
Now that's a movie I'd watch.
