Following Mahindra's announcement last year that it plans to enter the American market with a diesel-powered pickup and 'ute, the other major Indian auto manufacturer, Tata, also is looking into the possibility.

At press time, Tata was still a leading bidder for Ford's Land Rover and Jaguar businesses--will there be a small, inexpensive Land Rover 'ute on the horizon?

1. wow, the Indians are right around the corner. That'll be weird buying Indian cars. Do we call these cars imports too? Since Japanese cars are considered "Imports" and European cars are just called "Euros"
