After reporting yesterday about Chrysler's plans to introduce new, light-duty diesel trucks sometime after 2009, Reuters confirms that Chrysler will be working on an all-new turbodiesel engine for its commercial trucks.
The new engine will meet emission standards in all 50 U.S. states, cutting emissions up to 20 percent compared with its current gasoline-powered counterpart. Still no word on engine size or output. Manufactures are all under pressure to meet the new emissions regulations for 2008 models.
General Motors also plans to offer its passenger vehicles with diesel versions as with the popular 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine.
