The Ford Escape continues to prove its leadership in the competitive small SUV market in Canada by posting a 34.4 per cent increase in sales and once again maintained its position as Canada's best selling small SUV.
"We love the new 2008 Ford Escape, and so do Canadian consumers. Canadians are practical buyers with active, multifaceted lives and they want a vehicle whose performance fits their lifestyle without sacrificing style, comfort, affordability or versatility," said Bill Osborne, president and CEO, Ford Motor Company of Canada, Limited.
In July, Ford of Canada saw overall combined sales decrease of 7.6 per cent to 21,097 units. Total truck sales were up 0.6 per cent at 15,432 units. Although car sales of 5,665 units marks a 24.4 per cent decline, the Ford Fusion and Mustang had strong sales with an increase of 17.8 per cent and 11.3 per cent respectively.
