Like a proud new papa, Arthur St. Antoine becomes the surrogate parent of Motor Trend's latest edition to the long-term vehicle fleet, the 2007 Audi Q7.
Here's a little snippet from his blog on Motortrend.com:
"Last week, I got a new 2007 Audi Q7 sport/utility. Okay, all right...that's not entirely true. See, we've instituted a new protocol here at Motor Trend; namely, every long-term test vehicle gets a designated chaperone to guide it through its stay with us--make sure all services are done correctly and on time, act as clearinghouse for wear and repair issues, conduct regular status-check drives of said vehicle, etc. By the luck of the draw, or maybe due to the phase of the moon or perhaps because I turned in my column on time for once, I ended up in charge of one of our newest and most delectable long-term arrivals: a glistening, Light Silver Metallic Audi Q7 Premium.
Naturally, when one is fortunate enough to make out so well, great care and tact are required so as not to step on the less-providential toes of others. Which is why I humbly say, in regard to my new role as our Q7's appointed shepherd: "It's mine! All mine! Mine mine mine mine mine mine MINE!!"
I intend to hog this gorgeous showpiece of German engineering as much as my Official Q7 KeyKeeper status will allow. Consider yourself lucky if you manage to snag the Audi for a weekend, MacKenzie. No way you're taking my new toy on an extended trip, Stone. Bring on the bribes and payola if you want seat time, fellow staffers. Did I mention I have a penchant for Arturo Fuente cigars?"
