Arthur St. Antoine of the Motor Trend Magazine team steps behind the wheel of their new long-term test vehicle, the 2007 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon
The Wrangler came equipped with a 3.8-liter V-6 engine with 205 horses and 240 pound-feet of torque. St. Antoine referred to its four-speed automatic to be a bit sluggish but still felt the vehicle to be very well defined compared to his predecessors:
"A Wrangler is that kind of vehicle--casual, adventurous, as shabby-chic as a pair of 501s," said St. Antoine as he recounts his 1997 "TJ" Sport, ?The people in the Jeep are always having fun. I never noticed the "steel canoe" ride."
"Many things about this newest Wrangler I love. Interior room has grown conspicuously. Shoulder room up front is now seriously generous, and the back seat offers something I haven't seen in a Wrangler before: actual legroom. Our long-term vehicle has the optional power windows and locks (you can still take off the doors; the electrical lines detach with a simple snap connector). Ours also has Sirius satellite radio and the available touch screen navigation system."
