The Highway Diaries: Trucks and SUVs that are spotted on the highways, freeways, streets, and backroads while traveling.
I travel a lot. And while I'm on my more-than-average journey to work or other places I randomly drive to, I constantly see trucks and SUVs that catch my eye. Unfortunately, I never have a camera handy to steal a quick shot of these vehicles.
Well, today I was lucky. I spotted two new 2007 Dodge Nitros, one in black and one in sliver, with painted wheel arches and bumpers. I do have to say that, unlike the stock version, a fully painted Nitro looks very good.
Another common truck and SUV attribute that I see (probably due to the fact I live in the desert), is the very popular "lifted" truck.
These are also commonly know as "Bro" trucks, a term that evolved from the location, style, and the manner which a lot of owners would use the expression "dude" and "bro" when talking. "Bro's" also have a tendency to wear a baseball hat twisted to the side.
Anyway, back to the trucks. I'm a sucker for this look, and there's nothing better than seeing a full-size truck lifted and ready to play in the dirt.
Toyota's FJ Cruiser is seen everywhere now. The automaker hit the ball out of the park when it came back out with retro FJ. I have two family members and three friends that own FJs. But the one I spotted today, "Black Cherry Pearl", is one on the best looking SUVs.
I also saw a Dodge Ram with this two-tone paint. It's a simple design with great lines. And then there are others, which just like flames. It's always great to see trucks with personally touches done by their owners to make them stand out.
Other honorable mentions: Poor beat up Jeep Pickup, Ford Escape, 2007 Toyota Tundra and more lifted trucks.
Until next time, I'll be on the hunt for trucks and SUVs that catch my eye on the open roads
