1. competetion pushes the envelope.no matter where built, who built by,or personal predjudices the best truck will sell the best(particularly if pricing is competetive) my guess is the chevy/gmc will be more competitive with a 6speed but will probably be priced higher.the consumner is the beneficiary

2. I can't wait to see the Tundra lifted or better yet scrapin & sparkin on the roads. Better looking than the last gen.

3. Why were both Ford and Dodge NOT part of this test??? How can one give the "best thing since sliced bread" award when they didn't test ALL the vehicles in this class...? Is Edmonds a subsidiary of the Toyota Motor Co?

5. The bottom line is who was the best selling truck last year and the year before that and that and that and that do you get it yet Edmonds yo should be comaring it to the ford F-150 the can now tow 11000 LBS please coment if jyou must

6. i strongly agree with edmunds on their choice because, the tundra is truly a truckers truck with a powertrain un matched.

7. What i need is a stronger puller able to pull properly at 2500 R«p««m unfortunately only diesel can do that when gas motor could do that with style.

8. no folks the bottomline is that Ford and GM has old technology (Fact: 4speed tranny designed over 15years ago fact) with their Powertrain while Toyota is increasing their technology. F-150 and Silverado are nice trucks but give credit where credit is due. Magazines are afraid to say the Tundra is that much better than the others because of the backlash by the public. have any you test driven the Tundra vs any other pick up? You will be speechless especially with the 5.7L V8(381HP 401LB of torque) that blows everything away for under 30K on the SR5 model that is a fact that is hard to swallow but a fact. GM 6.0L does not even match this power? The Dodge 5.7 345HP HEMI not even close. Ford 5.3 Triton low 300HP. Fact is Toyota built a competitive truck. Give it it's Due.

9. The Tundra is ugly. It really is.
People, we all know of a better and more easy to enhance 5.7L V8 called the Chevy 350.
But in all seriousness, The 6.2L V8 GMC Sierra Denali and trucks from Cadillac
with the 6.2L V8 are much more powerful and will out run the 5.7L Tundra.
I bet the 6.2L GM V8 can be special ordered($$$) in the Silverado 1500 you want to get.
Out in the real world, the 6.0L Silverado can tow any weight a 5.7L Tundra can tow and it
appears the Silverado will drink less gas doing it. Also, a 1500 Silverado can haul a loaded
Lance 815. The list goes on and on of how the Silverado is better for real world applications. Thank you Chevy.
You gave it a try Toyota, but it looks as though you'all should stick to producing Priuses, Corollas, and Yarises.

10. Sorry my friend, but ugly is the new Silverado, like a square, no design, very very ugly, and the new tundra is really the most efficient truck ever, I feel sorry for you so frustrated with the vehicles that is taking over the old schools, but you can check in several tests and you will see, the truth is truth, and also is less expensive, more economic and turn in less space, bla bla bla everybody knows the rest too, buy you don't, Tundra came to test how good the American trucks can go in the future, cause now they are done!

11. Why do people keep talking about these stupid engines on half ton trucks. I would never consider paying for the 6.0litre gm nor the 5.7 litre toyota. in fact i would never consider buying a toyota to begin with. after my grandmother's terrible experience with her camry. Plus i hate that butterfly looking emblem. If i were looking into huge engines like that ill just buy heavy duty or super duty trucks. People should actually be talking about the amazing imporvements in the 5.3litre V8 from GM. That is a great engine. The smaler V8 from toyota sucks. That 4.7litre is weak. Even the standard 4.8litre V8 from GM is better. The 5.3litre is also very fuel efficient. I have to give kudos to ford's 5.4litre as well. THe 6.0litre GM and 5.7litre Toyota are just stupid.

12. I also have to say that the new silverado is the best looking truck ive ever seen. I saw one role by the other day. it was a black LTZ with the 20inch rims. Very classy. A while back i saw a red LTZ with a really short bed, and it looked great. They are really classy trucks which look great in mud. ONstar is a nice touch to it as well. I love onstar. I saw the sport pachage on tundra, it looked horrible. The rims that toyota offers are horrible.

13. I own a 2007 Sierra Denali 6.2L 6 speed tranny, this truck kicks all the trucks all day long. I have 400+ HP AWD, this truck will tow anything. Some of you say there is no technology, well you better go back to school so you can learn to read, these motors use VVT, coil for each cylinder and the 6speed tranny uses some of the smartest tech out there. I just went on a trip and got 20MPG going 120KPH which is 75MPH, the engine RPM is about 1900.My friend has a new Toyota full load and get 11-12 MPG...what is all the tech if those are your numbers? I can beat him in a race and i will do almost double in fuel mileage. Not only that these Denali's are hands down the nicest looking, best riding and have an amazing interior, Toyota cant even compete in this arena at all. Face it GM really has the best of the best, i agree the other trucks need the 6 speed and that would make all the difference. Toyota also is putting 4.30 gears in its truck which is crazy, who are all these people pulling 10,000 lbs around anyway?

14. Darnoc you ignorant ***
I’m sorry you have to rely on your pathetic guessing on the performance of your friend’s Tundra.

"The GMC Sierra Denali 5,309-pound two-wheel-drive truck hauls to 60 mph in just 6.5 seconds and rips through the quarter-mile in 15.0 seconds at 92.1 mph. But the GMC Sierra Denali is not the quickest truck on the market. That title is held by the new Toyota Tundra with its 381-hp, 5.7-liter V8. In our testing, the four-wheel-drive Tundra Double Cab pounds to 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds and runs the quarter-mile in 14.8 seconds at 93.7 mph, even though it weighs 328 pounds more than the Sierra Denali."

See: http://www.edmunds.com/insideline/do/Drives/FullTests/articleId=120718/pageId=123474

Towing capacities are 10,300 pounds for the 4 door tundra and 8,500 for the 4 door Sierra. Plus don't bother doing any off-roading in your luxury AWD "pickup", leave that for the Tundra with a true 4-wheel-drive system.

PEACE
