Carfax, the experts in vehicle history, today announced that it now has more than 20,000 data sources providing information for inclusion in Carfax Vehicle History Reports. Housed in Columbia, MO, the company's database is now adding millions of VIN-specific pieces of information every day. Most notably, Carfax now receives significant amounts of information from aftermarket service providers, police departments and more than 3,000 dealer subscribers through the company's Service Link program.
"Our primary focus is expanding the amount of accident and service information we can include in our reports," said Larry Gamache, communications director at Carfax. "While there's no way to know it all, when combined with an inspection by a trusted mechanic, the Carfax Vehicle History Report helps millions of buyers and sellers of used cars avoid problem vehicles."
In 2005, the company announced the results of a study conducted with GE Fleet Services. The study found that detailed service information helped provide a $300 lift for vehicles sold in the wholesale market.
"We've always believed that vehicle history information can help lift the resale value of used cars," continued Gamache. "Through our Service Link program and product enhancements like Carfax One Owner, we're proving that everyday with the 29,000 dealers who subscribe to our service."
