Work has stopped on the replacement for Chrysler's Pacifica crossover, according to a report in the Detroit Free Press.
The paper is reporting that three suppliers, who spoke anonomously, have been directed to halt work on the new vehicle, codenamed CT, which was slated to launch in the 2009 model year.
The Pacifica was introduced in 2003 and was one of the first crossovers to come to market. Sales of the vehicle have been falling this year, but with crossovers being all the rage with automakers at present, the decision to kill the project is a bit puzzling. It's reasonable to assume Chrysler's recent money woes may be factoring into the equation.
Chrysler would not comment on the report.
